The Orchard View Vets Team Work makes the Orchard View Vets Dream Work!
Our team is at the heart of everything we do and we believe that knowing the people who look after your animals helps build trust and confidence. This blog is letting you see a little more (of the professional and the slightly cheeky!) about each of us.
Maddie our Vet
Maddie has been a vet for 20 years and loves all parts of the job! She really enjoys the day to day interaction with clients and their furry members of the family.
“I love getting to know my patients and their owners, to look after them with my full care and attention. Being an independent vet practice here at Orchard View Vets, I can take care of each of my patients’ individual needs in the right way for them and for their owners. This is a huge part of why Kate and I set up on our own and left the corporate vet world.”
She has two girls aged 8 and 10 with her husband David, living in Ledbury with Daisy the wonderful rescue greyhound! She has a reputation here of being a bit bossy when it comes to our clinic design and the colours of the walls and scrubs…but you have all said you like it!
Kate our Vet
Kate has been a vet for 10 years and she loves looking after you and your pets! She really enjoys surgery, including orthopaedic surgery. She has already been busy fixing broken legs and the like, here at Orchard View Vets! She says it is ‘just like DIY’ but we are all very impressed with her super-surgeon skills.
“Being a vet is so much part of who I am! And having my own dog Dart, who has been through a lot health-wise himself, has reminded me of how important it is for your vet to know you and be able to take care of you with your best interests at heart. Maddie and I have been friends and colleagues for the last 5 years and our excitement at setting up independently together will be obvious to you all when you come in!”
Kate lives in Churchdown with her beloved Dart, the black Labrador. She is an avid walker and just completed the Cotswolds Way (with Dart of course) alongside good friend (and another vet!) Anna and her dog, Muffin. We were very impressed as it rained a lot of the way and we all said we would rather have been on the beach somewhere hot!
Laura our Nurse Director
Laura has been a veterinary nurse for 26 years and is a total legend! She loves the client and pet interaction that her job brings every day. She has a further certificate in Emergency Vet Nursing Care (we need to get that certificate on the wall, don’t we?!) She has a whole host of other skills in management and leadership (that Maddie and Kate are very impressed by!) so watch this space as she becomes our practice manager in the future!
Laura has three children, three dogs, two cats, two guinea pigs and an unknown number of Koi carp! I know, we don’t know how she does it either! Laura is a born and bred Gloucester girl alongside her extended family. Her youngest daughter Layla can sometimes be found helping out at Orchard View Vets already! Thanks Layla!
Abi our Veterinary Nurse
Abi has been a nurse for 10 years and we managed to nab her in time for opening our doors! We feel very lucky as she is an absolute star! She takes the most amazing care of patients here, whether it is something as little as making sure your cat gets a worming tablet without stress, right up to making sure a long or difficult anaesthetic goes smoothly. We have our eye on her becoming the clinical lead nurse here at Orchard View Vets and judging by the massive smile on her face when we asked her about this role, I think she is keen!
Abi lives in Stonehouse with her husband Rory and her two boys aged 6 and 8. The family cat, Maggot is everyone’s best friend at home but has made it very clear that if he comes to the vet and we try to do anything to him…we get a slap! We love him regardless, especially the way he sits in our beautiful cat ward as if it was built just for him!
Andrea our Receptionist
Last, but by NO means least, is the person who really is the face of Orchard View Vets, Andrea! And you couldn’t ask for a more welcoming or smiley face. Andrea loves people, and loves pets, and you can hear her chatter and laughter in the waiting room from any room in the clinic!
She has years of experience on reception and is the person to book you an appointment, sort your Orchard View Family Membership, answer your calls, alongside fussing your pets and often making you a cuppa! We are delighted she agreed to join us and she already knows so many of you very well!
Andrea lives in Gloucester with her husband. Her two grown up sons have now flown the nest! But her dogs Steve and Gilbert are her fur babies so that makes it easier! She loves a little Sauvignon Blanc of a Friday evening and we think she deserves it! Cheers to our lovely Andrea!
Our new veterinary nurse starting very soon!
We are very excited that we will soon be joined by a fabulous new veterinary nurse! Watch this space for the big reveal of the new Orchard View Vets member of our now growing family!
